Starting young
Children love being outside and playing. The best time to start a child with golf is when they begin to show some interest in it. I know my daughter loves having chipping competitions with me in the backyard. The best things to do are to use lots of loft, a teed-up ball, a light club, and a molded grip to help get their hands in the right position. These four things make it easy and fun, and when they get a ball in the air, they are jumping for joy. That’s the way I’ve shown my children. Starting on the putting green and working their way out is also a good way to begin.
