Always go after it. I can’t count the number of times I’ve taken one club less and completely mishit it when I was in between clubs. I’ve learned my lesson: always try to make a full shot. The hardest shots in golf are the ones where you need to change your tempo and swing speed.

I practice this a lot as it helps my short game striking. If you need to take one more club, the best way is to grip down the club. This will naturally slow your swing speed a little. We generally have a tempo that we tend to stick to. Looking at the stats, the major reason we come up short of the target is due to a mishit.
