The two things I hate changing the most are ball position and grip. For me, ball position is usually determined by where the club first makes contact with the ground during a practice swing. This approach works great for sidehill lies or awkward stances, which are far more common on the course than the flat, level ground we practice on. It’s a guideline, not a strict rule.
To adjust the flight of your shots, you can change the ball position or tweak your grip, both of which affect spin and strike. Learning how to fine-tune these adjustments takes time, and everyone’s swing reacts differently. As a general rule, for right-handed players, play the driver and 3-wood off your left heel, while the rest of your clubs should be positioned between the center of your stance and inside your right foot. The shorter the club, the further back in your stance it will naturally sit.
